Will At-Large Recorder 2.0 work with SlingPlayer 2.0 Beta?

At this time, At-Large Recorder 2.0 is not compatible with the firmware update that is included in SlingPlayer 2.0 beta. Please do not install Slingplayer 2.0 beta if you wish to use it with At-Large Recorder. We are working on an update for a future release.

Will At-Large Recorder 2.0 work with my recently purchased Slingbox?

Yes. At-Large Recorder uses a different recording method than version 1.0, and works with all current versions of Slingbox™.

How much is the upgrade from version 1 to version 2?

There is no upgrade fee. Your existing registration code for version 1 also works with version 2. You can get your existing registration code emailed to you here.

I get an "Error - Connection Dropped" message and At-Large will not connect. How do I fix this?

You will get this error if your SlingPlayer is already open and connected to your SlingBox. At-Large Recorder 2 needs to make a connection to your Slingbox in order to record. If your SlingPlayer is already connected, your Slingbox will be busy and At-Large Recorder will not be able to connect. Please make sure that your SlingPlayer is not connected to the Slingbox when you wish to use At-Large Recorder.

At-Large Recorder cannot connect to my Slingbox. I am certain that my Finder ID and password are correct. What can I do?

If you can connect remotely but have trouble connecting when on your local LAN, try using the IP address of your Slingbox in the Direct Connection area of At-Large Recorder's recording settings.

Or, if you have not configured Port Forwarding on your router for your Slingbox, that could be a likely cause of the connection problem. Here is a link to Sling Media’s tutorials on configuring Port Forwarding on your router for your Slingbox:

http://support.slingmedia.com/page/remote-viewing-tutorials

Also, be sure to give At-Large Recorder access permissions in any firewall or security software that you may be using.

I get an "Unable to Load SLINGBOXER.DLL" error message. What can I do?

This issue was fixed in the version 2.4 update. Download and install version 2.4 or later to resolve this problem.

I get an "Unable to create an HSLINBOXER object" error message. What can I do?

This error could happen if the installation became corrupt.  When At-Large Recorder starts, it initializes its components and if it can't initialize them correctly, then you will see that error. Uninstall At-Large Recorder, then re-install.

I get an "output" error and cannot record. How do I fix this?

This error message means that the output directory that At-Large Recorder is set to record to does not exist. When starting a recording, click the "browse" button in the recording sessions settings to select an output directory that exists on your computer.

My recordings are shorter than expected. What can I do?

This was resolved in an update. Please download and install version 2.1 or newer of At-Large Recorder.

My recorded asf files are not seekable (cannot fast-forward). What can I do?

Version 2.2 of At-Large Recorder fixed this issue and also includes a Reindex ASF button. At-Large Recorder saves all of your recordings in .asf format. When a recording is finished the .asf file is processed making it seekable when you watch it later. If a recording was interrupted, the post-processing may not have taken place. You can use the Reindex ASF button to process those recordings. Click the Play button to open your recording history. Then highlight the file you'd like to fix and click the Reindex ASF button.

My recordings have no video, choppy video or low quality video. Why?

Open the advanced recording settings and set them back to their default options. To open the advanced recording settings, click the Advanced button on the second recording window. Try recording again using the default options.

Also, be sure that your default audio/video receiver is powered on prior to recording. If it's off, you can use SlingPlayer to power it on prior to using At-Large Recorder.

I have modified some options in the Advanced settings, but they do not show in the recorded file. Why?

You may not have the latest firmware for your Slingbox™. In SlingPlayer, click on help, check for updates. This will give you access to updates for both the SlingPlayer and your Slingbox™ firmware.

I can't use the 640x480 resolution successfully. Why?

640x480 is currently an experimental resolution. It may not work on some systems.

Do I need Replay A/V to schedule recordings with At-Large Recorder 2.0?

You can run several instances of At-Large Recorder 2.0 at the same time on your PC. Each one can set up to record at a different time, or from a different Slingbox™ device. Currently Replay A/V does not interface with At-Large Recorder 2.0. We will be including enhanced scheduling features for At-Large Recorder in a future release.

I have a Slingbox Pro with more than one video input. Which input will At-Large Recorder record from?

At-Large Recorder will record from whichever input you have selected as the default. Your default input is set in SlingPlayer's administrative settings.

At-Large Recorder is not changing channels. Why?

This was resolved in an update. Please download and install version 2.2 or newer of At Large Recorder.

Why does SlingPlayer turn off and on when recording?

This behavior is by design. In order to record, At-Large Recorder restarts the video playback. This reinitializes the stream data so that it can be turned into a playable file.

How big are the recorded video files?

The file size depends upon the bit rate and quality of the stream that SlingPlayer receives. Most people get between 400Mb and 600 Mb per hour of recording.

I get zero bytes when recording - why?

Some Network connection types cannot be used with At-Large Recorder. The following Adapter types DON'T work:

Widescreen format recordings play back squashed (wrong aspect ratio). How do I fix it?

Make sure that the "Enable High-Quality Mode for at Home (LAN) viewing" in Sling Player is UNCHECKED. You can find this in Options, Sling Player in Slingplayer.

My recordings are all distorted and pixilated - why?

Due to Sling's decision to add encryption to the stream, SlingPlayer v 1.3.0.176 and newer, will NOT work with At-Large Recorder. You must use a previous version of SlingPlayer with At-Large Recorder. You can install the player from your Slingbox product CD. OR - download the newest version of At-Large Recorder. It will work with the encrypted stream.
